Relying totally on donations, either in cash or kind, the Association consists of a team of dynamic and motivated volunteers, like Sylvie, who are committed to keeping the operational costs to a bare minimum.
Given the sheer need among the children that the Association helps, its volunteers are determined that the benefits of all donations are maximised.

The long expected return to her native land,
made possible by political change in Eastern
Europe, allowed Sylvie Vartan to see the ruin of
Bulgaria and the impoverishment of its population
after years under the communist regime.
This profoundly moving experience convinced her
to form, together with her brother Eddie, the
Sylvie Vartan Association for Bulgaria. Its main
objective is to supply care and shelter to
orphaned children. Since the association was
created in 1990, Sylvie has made numerous trips
to Bulgaria.
It is personal commitment that has insured the
success of the association. In meetings with
doctors and orphanage directors, as well as
government officials, Sylvie has elevated the
plight of children in Bulgaria. In December 2004,
the President of Bulgaria awarded her the
country's highest medal of honour. A Christmas
party for the orphans, complete with father
Christmas and more than 1000 gifts, was the
highlight of the season.
Relying totally on donations, either in cash or
kind, the Association consists of a team of
dynamic and motivated volunteers, like Sylvie,
who are committed to keeping the operational
costs to a bare minimum. Given the sheer need
among the children that the Association helps, its
volunteers are determined that the benefits of all
donations are maximised.
